A Mountain Hiding Place

I am Decka. Until a little over a year ago, I had an ordinary life working at a job I liked a lot and was good at. I fully expected that by now, I would have been promoted to manager of my department, but instead I am keeping a very low profile at my friend’s off-grid cabin in the mountains of Tennessee.

See, I accidentally learned something I shouldn’t have at work, and now I am being hunted down by the CEO of the company I used to work for. The information I uncovered could seriously affect the profits of the company and ruin the CEO. I’m pretty certain he has hired people to kill me. If they can find me.

My friend Jennifer, who invested in Bitcoin in 2011 and made loads of money, has this cabin that belonged to her grandparents, and she talked me into moving here until I can think of a way to defuse the situation. After all, things change all the time, and in a year or two the information I discovered may not matter any more. Meanwhile, I spend my time catching up on the reading I always wanted to do but was too busy, and working on a book I always wanted to write. I have also cleaned up the place and made repairs and upgrades. I’ve turned the cabin into a sort of greenhouse. Jen brings in building materials every time she comes to bring food and supplies. She also usually brings something to cheer me up. Like last time she was here, 10 days ago, she brought some flower transfers I could use on an old armoire I painted that’s now in my bedroom. No one but Jennifer knows I’m here.
